Module Structure

The Currency module includes the following sections:

  • Currency Types: Define accepted currencies, exchange rate, and rounding precision.
  • Coupon Types: Define coupon categories and configure discount application behavior.
  • Gift Card Definitions: Configure gift card products and redemption rules.

Key Operational Considerations

Currency Types

  • Use ISO 4217 currency codes (for example, USD, EUR) for consistency.
  • Updating Fixed Rate affects future calculations only; historical transactions are not recalculated.
  • Choose an appropriate Rounding Factor (for example, 0.0100 for two decimal places; 1.0000 for currencies without minor units).

Coupon Types

  • Design Number Mask patterns to avoid overlap so one coupon number matches only one type.
  • Use effective dates to activate/deactivate coupon types without removing configuration.
  • Ensure Application Type (Item vs Sale) aligns with how the promotion is intended to be applied.

Gift Card Definitions

  • Gift card definitions are uniquely identified by Item ID + Location + Payment Type.
  • Define separate configurations per location; definitions are not shared across locations.
  • Expiration behavior depends on the configured Expiration Type (including fixed date behavior controlled by the GLS program when applicable).
