Tax Configuration

Control tax behavior, classifications, and compliance settings.

The Taxes section documents the reference data and administrative screens used to control tax behavior in the POS. Tax configuration uses three related concepts: Tax Classes, Tax Schedule Codes, and Tax Schedules.

Tax Classes

Defines item-level tax classification codes and the per-schedule rates that apply to each class. Tax Classes are referenced by items, item locations, and other reference data to determine the applicable tax rules for a sale.

Tax Schedule Codes

Describes the individual tax components (for example state or provincial tax) that can be included in Tax Schedules. Each code is referenced by rates for specific Tax Classes.

Tax Schedules

Describes how Tax Schedule Codes are grouped into named schedules that can be assigned to customers, stores, or registers.
