Docker Containers

This topic describes how the POS Docker containers are obtained for the first time.

Warning

Docker Environment Variables must be configured before running the POS Docker containers for the first time. Ensure the variables are configured as intended, and that you have reviewed and understood the DNS & Network and SQL Server Install options that are available.

For the initial or fresh deployment, use the deploy-images-only.sh script. The image tag corresponding to the POS version and environment file are provided as arguments in the command:

# Most common example: the deploy the latest POS version:
./deploy-images-only.sh latest .env.docker

During execution, the script may request the following inputs:

  • Sudo password - the sudo password may be required when starting the WSL environment using the wsl -d Ubuntu command. The password will be entered by the person executing the deployment.
  • Docker Hub credentials - the script may request Docker Hub login details to authenticate and pull the required Docker images.

Credentials are provided and managed by Kensium DevOps.

Important

The deploy-images-only.sh script is intended for the initial deployment only. Once the initial deployment is completed, use the Docker upgrade script for subsequent deployments. Refer to Upgrading for the upgrade procedure and commands.
